What You Can Expect from a WTIF Member

WTIF members are specialist contractors working within the Federation's technical and professional requirements for remedial wall tie and associated structural work.

From the initial investigation through to completion of any remedial work, customers can expect a professional approach, clear information and work undertaken in accordance with recognised industry guidance and WTIF standards.

Only WTIF members can offer WTIF 25 Year Insurance Backed Guarantees to provide added protection and peace of mind for any work undertaken.

Professional Conduct

A Professional Approach

As representatives of the Federation, WTIF members are expected to conduct themselves professionally in all aspects of their work, from initial consultation through surveys, reporting, remedial work and continuing customer aftercare.

This includes explaining the purpose of an investigation, discussing significant findings and ensuring that recommendations are appropriate to the condition of the property.

Surveys and Investigations

A Proper Investigation Before Work Is Recommended

Visible cracking does not necessarily mean that wall ties have failed. A professional investigation will establish the construction of the wall, examine the condition of the existing ties and consider other possible causes of any defects.

Depending upon the property and the findings, an investigation may include external and internal inspection, examination within the roof space, borescope inspection of the cavity or localised exposure of existing wall ties.

The objective is to establish the cause and extent of the problem before remedial work is specified.

Reports and Recommendations

Clear Findings and Recommendations

Following an inspection, customers will receive clear information as to how the survey was undertaken, (if not covered in the initial consultation), the findings of the survey, and if applicable, details of any remedial work that may be recommended.

Where remedial work is recommended, a WTIF member will explain the basis of how that specific process will maintain the structural integrity of your property.

Remedial Work

Work Carried Out to Recognised Standards

Where remedial work is necessary, WTIF members undertake work in accordance with the Federation's requirements and relevant recognised industry guidance.

This includes the appropriate selection and installation of remedial wall ties and, where applicable, associated structural remedial techniques such as crack stitching and lateral restraint.

The contractor will take reasonable care of the property while work is being undertaken and leave the working area in an appropriate condition when the work is complete.

Completion and Aftercare

Support Doesn't End When the Work Is Finished

Customers will be provided with appropriate documentation relating to the work undertaken and be provided with contact information should they subsequently have questions or concerns.

The installing contractor remains the customer's first point of contact regarding their work.

For qualifying work undertaken by full WTIF members, customers may also have the option of a 25-Year WTIF Insurance-Backed Warranty, providing additional protection in accordance with the warranty terms and conditions.
