A professional wall tie specialist will establish what is happening within the wall before remedial work is recommended. The purpose is not simply to confirm that replacement ties can be installed, but to identify the cause and extent of the existing problem and specify an appropriate solution.
A WTIF member survey will include
A visual inspection of the property, both externally and internally
Identifying the construction of property walls
Locating and examining existing wall ties by bore scope inspection and/or minimal selective brick removal
Assessing any cracking, movement, corrosion and associated defects.
Identifying the appropriate treatment for existing ties
Providing a written report setting out findings and recommendations
