WTIF Membership
The Wall Tie Installers Federation offers membership to professional contractors involved in the installation of remedial wall ties and additional work associated with maintaining the structural integrity of a property.
Membership involves completing a WTIF approved training course, and serving as a probationary member for a 12 month period, during which a random sample of contracted work will be subject to inspection by a WTIF approved surveyor.
On completion of the probationary period contractors can be approved for full Federation membership.
Benefits of WTIF Membership
WTIF membership provides specialist contractors with a recognised framework for demonstrating their commitment to professional standards, technical competence and good practice within the remedial property industry.
Demonstrates professional standards – WTIF membership provides customers, surveyors and other property professionals with reassurance that a contractor has undertaken specialist training and works within established technical guidance.
Independent recognition – membership provides contractors with an independent professional identity that can help distinguish them from businesses operating without recognised specialist accreditation.
Specialist training and technical guidance – WTIF members have access to training and guidance covering remedial wall tie installation and associated structural remedial work, helping contractors maintain and develop appropriate technical standards.
Quality assurance – WTIF inspection and quality-control procedures provide independent oversight of members' work and help promote consistent standards across the Federation.
Enhanced customer confidence – displaying WTIF membership provides customers with an additional point of reassurance when selecting a contractor to undertake specialist remedial work on their property.
Supports commercial opportunities – professional membership, appropriate training and independent quality assurance can assist contractors when demonstrating competence to surveyors, managing agents, housing providers and other organisations procuring remedial works.
Public visibility – full members can be included within the WTIF's contractor directory, helping property owners and other potential clients identify specialist contractors operating in their area.
One of the most important additional benefits available to full WTIF members is the ability to offer customers a WTIF 25-Year Insurance-Backed Warranty for qualifying remedial work.
Benefits of WTIF Warranties for Contractors
Offering a WTIF 25-Year Warranty enables full WTIF members to provide customers with independent, long-term protection alongside their own workmanship commitments.
Greater customer confidence. An insurance-backed warranty provides reassurance that qualifying work has continuing protection if the contractor subsequently ceases trading.
Supports professional credibility. The warranty complements WTIF membership, training and technical requirements and demonstrates a commitment to recognised professional standards.
Supports public-sector and commercial tendering. Insurance-backed warranties are increasingly specified within housing association, local authority and other property-sector, tender requirements.
Helps customers when properties are sold. Increasingly mortgage providers require evidence that an insurance backed warranty is available for any remedial wall tie work that has been carried out on a property. The absence of such a guarantee can have an adverse effects, such as additional costs in establishing the integrity of the remedial work and delays to the exchange of property contracts.
